The quality travel products offered by Jamaica won great accolades during the recently concluded World Travel Awards. The World Travel Market was held in London between 7 to 10 December and the awards were part of the events.
Jamaica was recognized as the leading travel destination in seven world categories including World's Leading Beach Destination - Montego Bay, World's Leading Cruise Destination, Worlds Leading Villas, World's Leading Family All Inclusives and World's Leading Caribbean Attractions Company.
Usain Bolt, the fastest sprinter in the world, also walked away with the coveted Face of Travel Award for being part of Jamaica’s ad campaign ‘Once You Go You Know.’
Jamaica welcomes more than one million visitors to its shores every year. Tourism is one of the leading industries on the island and the government has been aggressively promoting its travel products through out the world using innovative means and technology. The latest feather in its cap was a 3D marketing film which was showcased during the event. By this, Jamaica became the first country to ever showcase itself as a destination using the 3D technology.
The events, film and other promotional activities have ensured great curiosity and interest in Jamaica as a country and the locals are optimistic that the interest will translate into higher booking for their tours and accommodation.
